CinemAsia Film Festival presents in collaboration with UvA Pride a screening of Our Story- 10-year "Guerrilla Warfare" by Yang Yang about the challenges faced by LGBTQ filmmakers in China.
For ten years the Beijing Queer Film Festival has battled official oppression and homophobia to fight for more visibility for gays and lesbian issues in China. This film documents this struggle and the ‘guerrilla’ tactics used by the festival’s organisers. For 10 years, director of the film Yang Yang has been executive director of the festival, providing an essential space for the queer and allied communities of Beijing.
Our Story - 10-year "guerrilla warfare" will be shown, followed by a panel discussion entitled, Is LGBT Life Emerging in Asian Emerging Markets?
