Fondée sur le principe que la culture est un besoin fondamental, la mission de la Fondation Prince Claus est de rechercher activement des collaborations culturelles sur une base d'égalité et de confiance avec des partenaires d'excellence dans des régions où les moyens et les possibilités d'expression culturelle, de recherche et de production dans le domaine de la création sont limités, et le patrimoine culturel menacé.
La Fondation Prince Claus dont le siège se trouve à Amsterdam est financée par le ministère des Affaires étrangères et la Loterie nationale du code postal des Pays-Bas.
