11.6.2013 'Searching for Kalpana Chakma' by Shahidul Alam

Indigenous rights activist Kalpana Chakma was abducted at gunpoint by the Bangladeshi military on 12 June 1996. She has not been heard from since. Prince Claus Fund project partner Shahidul Alam and Saydia Gulrukh have revived the plight of the disappeared activist in the courageous and revealing photography exhibition ‘Searching for Kalpana Chakma’.

4.6.2013 First Project Initiated by 'SELAT: Links through the Arts'

The Prince Claus Fund and the A.M. Qattan Foundation have launched ‘SELAT: Links through the Arts’, a grant-making programme in support of cultural initiatives in Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. SELAT will amongst others provide grants in support of projects by young Palestinian artists in Lebanon in the fields of visual arts, performing arts and literature.

Johann van der Schijff received the 2013 UCT Creative Works Award for the 'Community Punching Bag' project on 3 June. The award recognises major art works, performances, productions and compositions produced by UCT staff.  'Community Punching Bag' is a project supported by the Prince Claus Fund.
