The Prince Claus Fund supports the Dharamshala International Film Festival in their goal to trigger local, cultural and social interaction in a refugee town. For Tibetans living in the refugee town of Dharamsala, their complicated situation is further strained by their isolation from the local Indian community. There is no common space for both groups to interact like a cultural centre, cinema or library where Indians and Tibetans meet.
The Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) seeks to change this by promoting intercultural exchange through a five-day film festival. DIFF will bring local Indians and Tibetans together to not only to view the films, but also to organise the festival. DIFF will screen international films that broadly fit into three thematic categories: Global Citizenship, Mountain and Environment and Contemporary Spirituality.
