Cultural Emergency Response in Gambia

In Gambia, CER is collaborating with the National Centre for Arts and Culture (NCAC) in the emergency restoration of James Island and the related building of the Compagnie Française d’Afrique Occidentale in Albreda, which are severely affected by weathering and erosion caused by wind, rain and wave-action. A second project is being carried out at the Kerbatch Stone-Circle Museum, where raging winds have destroyed the roof leaving the interior exposed to the elements.

Cultural Emergency Response in Togo

In the maritime region of the Lower Zio in Togo, the Association du Festival de Théâtre de la Fraternité (FESTHEF) is restoring the Cemetery of Davié, including its monumental tombs and a number of ancient and sacred trees in Assahoun and Togoville. CER is also supporting the Fédération togolaise de musique chorale (FTMC) in its efforts to repair three sites in the municipalities of Agbélouvé and Togblékopé that are of significance to voodoo tradition and will enable the continuation of social practices and festivities in the community.
