Hidden Afghanistan in Nieuwe Kerk
Ever since The Prince Claus Fund honored Omara Khan Massoudi, Director of the National Museum in Kabul, with an Award in 2004 for his extraordinary work saving the cultural treasures of Afghanistan it was a dream to bring those treasures to the rest of the world. Together with the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam the Prince Claus Fund organised three evenings with special guests related to the exhibition 'Hidden Afghanistan' in the first months of 2008, Prince Claus Laureates Lida Abdul and Omara Khan Massoudi told their stories and also Jolyon Leslie, director of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture in Kabul stressed the importance of preservation of cultural heritage. read more

Golden Lion Emily Jacir at Venice Biennale
The Golden Lion Award for an artist under 40 at the Venice Biennale is given to 2007 Prince Claus Awardee Emily Jacir for a practice that takes as its subject exile in general and the Palestinian issue in particular. The Sahel Opera a success in Paris
Performances in Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris from 25- 27 October 2007 were very well received. Earlier this year HM Queen Beatrix, HRH Prince Constantijn and HRH Princess Laurentien attended the European Premiere of Bintou Were, a Sahel Opera on 7 June 2007 in the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ in Amsterdam. read more
Prince Claus Fund supports publication of 'Document' aka 'Xianchang'
Document is a book series of dossiers formed mainly of interviews and photographs, covering the realms of current Chinese experimental and avant-guard arts, such as visual art, film, literature, the performing arts of theater and dance, as well as the people involved in them. The series began in 2000 and three volumes have already been published in China. The original Chinese editions of Document were called Xianchang. read more

La Filarmónica con sabor Latino: The Philarmonic with Latin flavor
In 2006 Corporación Orquesta Filarmónica de Medellín, Colombia, under direction of Alfonso Arias, organized two free concerts in diverse public spaces in the areas of Medellín. For the occasion, popular Latin American music was orchestrated by composers and interpreted by the entire orchestra.
